For those who are neophyte when it comes to the latest and most up to date photo printing technology, here’s a quick rundown of the basic characters of the different kinds of photo paper.
For starters, a glossy photographic paper is the most common one. It is widely used in the photography industry because this kind of paper appears to be higher in quality and the photographs are more appealing to the eye. Glossy photo paper has this shiny look unlike the matte photo paper. Also, the glossy version boasts of its very vibrant color quality that would certainly stand out in comparison to the matte paper. Photographs printed on matte photo paper often have colors that appear dull. And finally, it is also important to note that glossy reflects light well as compared to the matte photo paper.
However, glossy photo paper is more attracted to dirt and fingerprints as compared to the matte photo paper. The photos printed on a glossy photo paper are also difficult to view properly under strong light while photos printed on non-glossy paper are easy to see in almost all light conditions.
